The Metal Workshop focuses on a material, usually steel, rather than a specific technique. You might even say it is a place dedicated to the art of working with steel - a versatile material that can morph into a myriad of forms. Working with steel involves a broad spectrum of techniques, including cutting, bending and joining. Through the skilled use of grinding and forging, steel can be made into virtually any desried shape. Our workshop has a wide range of machines and tools, from which you can take technical instruction and courses.

Overview of possible technical instruction and courses

Basic Hand/Tool Skills: Bench shears, angle grinder, electric sheet metal shear, drilling, pop rivet gun, oxy-acetylene torch, diverse hammering techniques, bending techniques like the folding press, the plate roller and the strip bender.  

Basic Machine Skills: Belt sander, flap wheel, crosscut saw, spot welding, pillar drill, MIG welding, plasma cutter, guillotine shear. 

Advanced Skills: Welding techniques including arc, TIG, hard soldering, forging, turning/milling, and aluminium/ bronze casting. 

Introduction to MIG Welding: Welding forms one of the key foundations of our metal workshop, enabling you to swiftly and effortlessly join pieces of steel. The MIG welding machine is user-friendly, and practice makes perfect. Although this course serves as a mere introduction, it will significantly broaden your capabilities within the metal workshop.
